Before we get started, I want to tell you all a real quick story. Back when I was little, I was about 5 years old whatever, my dad told me that it was time for me to finally learn how to ride a bicycle without training wheels. Of course I was nervous. I was like extra nervous because I don't want to fall and scrape my knee. I'm sure you all went through the same thing, your parents took you out there.
They took the training wheels off and you're like, "Okay, I don't know about this." You started having second thoughts, right? So you know he put me on a bicycle and he put his hand on my shoulder and he slowly started pushing me and I started pedaling and let me go. When I'm about five feet then I fell down and scrape my knee up so of course I started crying a little bit and he said, "Alright, dry your tears. It was time to go again." Mom came out there and she was like "Well, alright, try again" and so I kept trying and each time that I tried, I went further and further and further, 10 feet, 20 feet, 30 feet. By the end of the day, after falling over and over again, I finally knew how to ride a bicycle without training wheels.
How does it even relate to blogging? Well it relates to blogging because it's the exact same principle. There's going to be times when you're going to fail. There's going to be times where you're going to give up and quit but you just have to know that, just like riding a bicycle blogging also has a few learning curves you have to go through, especially if you try to learn how to make money blogging. There's going to be a few things you're going to have to learn. Let's talk about those three things that I promise you I was going to talk about.
Before you write your first blog post, before you buy your domain name, before you even turn on your computer, you need to take out a note pad. On that note pad, you need to write down who are you going to be targeting, who was going to be your target market. Your target market is what's going to determine what you're going to be blogging about. A lot of people have this misconception that if you just blog about anything you're just going to start rolling in the dough. It does not work like that. You have to blog about the type of things that your target market is interested in. If you're just blogging just to blog, just to put your thoughts out there, cool it doesn't apply to you but if you're blogging to make money, you need to have a specific target market that you're marketing to because if you try to you know just blog for everybody, you're not going to make any money blogging. I'm just going to be real because like if you go to some people's blogs, it's like one day they'll talk about the rain, one day they'll talk about dogs and cats, the next day they'll talk about basketball. Google watches everything you do on your blog, on your website and they determine where you get ranked based on the amount of relevancy that you have. Ever since the new like panda and penguin algorithm push is not as much like, it's not really about how many back ends you have anymore, it's more about being relevant. If your blog is just like everywhere,
going everywhere it wants, no specific subject, Google is going to see that and when your blog post get indexed, it's going to be like "Okay, this guy does not always talk about how to get network marketing leads," so, I'm just going to put his post back here in tat the end of the search engine but if you had a specific blog about a specific subject, like it doesn't have to be like really strict but it needs to be in that area. If you have a blog about gardening, you don't only have to just talk about one type of gardening.
You can have tomatoes, how to plant cucumbers, all kind of stuff but it needs to be one specific subject, you see what I'm saying, because if you're everywhere, you're going to attract all kinds of traffic that is not related to the stuff that you're trying to sell and if you want to make money blogging you need to be as specific as possible. What's the next step you want to make money blogging now that you've decided on your target market, the next thing you need to do is your keyword research.
This is vital right here. You cannot afford anymore just go out there and just blog about random stuff for your target market. You need to know exactly what the search is for so how to do this right here. You can use a tool called the Google keyword research tool, the keyword planner now and you can type in the type of words that your target market is going to be searching for. Let's say you don't know the type of words that your target market's after, where can you find words like that? Well, a good place to are Facebook groups.
You can look in there and see what type of stuff they talk about. You can go on there to the forums to see what types of stuff they talk about. You can read the type of magazines that your target market reads and get ideas from that. There are literally billions upon billions of keywords out there that you can target. The next important thing you need to realize about keywords is when you're new, you really should not go after like super competitive keywords until you get your confidence up as far as ranking stuff
on Google. You want to make sure that you go after keywords and not only get traffic but also attract buyer traffic. What's the good example of that? You want to make sure you do the long tail keywords, that's vital right there, a lot of people don't. They just go after the base keyword and so much competition. It's just a huge headache to try to go after that. What's the example? Let's say you got, the keyword is Nike Shoes. No, most people you know if they have a site where they're selling shoes they're going to go after Nike Shoes. Let them do their thing. Let them knock themselves out with the competition because it's going to be ridiculous but you can be smart and blog about a keyword like, where to buy Nike Shoes? Now, why would you blog about that keyword right there? Well, for one, it's going to be a lot less competition. It's going to be a lot easier for you to rank for in the search engines and not only that, the cool thing is that, it's going to be easy for you to make money blogging because you know for a fact, anybody searching for something like that they'll look in to buy something and they got the credit card in hand. If you're really serious about making money blogging, you need to blog about the type of keywords where somebody would actually be ready to buy something. That's really important right there. What is the final secret that you need to make sure that you do? This one right here is biggie. You need to make sure that you actually have patience.
Having patience when you're a blogger is, I'm trying to think of the best word to put in, you know just like how it takes time for wine to ferment and become what it is, the same thing can be said about your blog. You're not going to just start blogging and instantly start making money. You're not going to be making money blogging just instantly that is not how to make money blogging. Having impatience, you have to be patient. It's going to take time for Google to crawl your site and index it.
Number two, it's going to take time for you to be able to get past a learning curve and figure out how to get your stuff ranked on the first page of Google and number three, it's going to take time to build an audience. At first, it's going to be a trickle, one person here, one person there that eventually the more blog post you have, the more targeted keyword should you go after, you know what I'm saying, the more word of mouth you are able to get is going to be a lot more easier for you to make money blogging.
That is why it is easier for experienced bloggers to make money than it is for somebody who is a beginner at blogging, because they already know the steps they have to go through but if you follow those three steps that I gave you, it is going to be easy for you to make money blogging.
